(high school students may skip ahead to step 2) Complete a TB test: this health measure is required of all adult public school volunteers. If you’re currently attending CSU Stanislaus, Modesto Junior College, Merced College, or UC Merced, the health center on each campus provides free TB tests to all enrolled students. Call for hours of operation, location, and appointment information. Upon completing the test you will be given a clearance card that is valid for four years – keep this document for future reference.

Select school districts require tutors to be finger printed (lived scanned). Department of Justice live scan background checks cost $57. Most districts reimburse STAMP tutors upon completion of 6-10 tutoring hours. Send an e-mail to info@stamptutorscom specifying where you would like to tutor (i.e. notify us of your site placement preferences). Upon reviewing your site preference list, we will respond with specific security clearance requirements, if any exist.
Upon completion of the TB and (sometimes optional) live-scan requirements, volunteers become eligible for school site placement. districts generally require that a short application/registration form be submitted before tutoring approval is issued.
